We are pleased to say that works to renew the roof of the Town Hall are well under way with a complete covering of scaffolding providing protection from the recent inclement weather. All original slates have been stripped with a view to saving as many as possible and all timbers have been fully inspected with some requiring repair, but overall found to be in fine condition considering their age. Treatment against future woodworm etc. has been completed and if on schedule the roof will be felted and battened prior to the Christmas holidays, after which work will continue to re-lay old and new slates, fit PV panels and repair/redecorate facias and windows whilst the scaffolding is in place.

We then plan to focus on continuing momentum on the renovation with a view to returning this important building to full community use as soon as possible.

More news... After many years as Chairman and undisputed workhorse behind the project, Harry Cramp recently decided to step down as our Chairman and lead a less pressured life. Taking his place is Richard Phillips, a Town Councillor and current Chairman of Torrington Town Traders, who has a hard act to follow. Harry has graciously agreed to remain as Vice Chairman in order to pass on his undoubted knowledge of the project so far and Bryan Cole steps aside from this position, remaining as Co. Secretary.

Further information will be posted as it becomes available.
